2 1/2 days left and we are still working. We started a new unit over the universe in science today. There is a book assignment due Monday: p. 673 #2, 3, 4; p. 679 # 1, 3, 8; p. 688 # 2, 3; p. 690 # 1-13, 18. The final Odyssey project will also be assigned. This will be a fun project! I have posted the assignment sheet and rubric under The Odyssey section to the right. Don't forget your Odyssey study guide and internet search are due Friday.

We will finish the "Motion" Unit today. The notebook with completed book questions for Chapter 10 and 11, labs, and worksheets is due Tuesday. The unit test is Wednesday!

We are reading Part II of The Odyssey. I have a feeling the study guide will be due very soon. This assignment is worth a lot of points, make sure you are filling it out in class, asking questions when you need help, and are getting the study guide completed. I'll post a study guide due date, when I know when it is.

I think the countdown until the end of school has begun, but don't quit yet. There is still plenty of time to make or break your grades in any of your classes. There is still plenty of work to do in all of your classes.
Geography
You will continue to work on the Travel Brochure project. Since Mr. Livingston received most of his books back, the due date for the Travel Brochure has been extended until Monday, May 17th. This also means NO MORE TESTS IN GEOGRAPHY, for the remainder of this school year!!
Science
We are still working on the "Motion" unit. Keep up with the labs, book questions, and worksheets. All of the book questions that have been assigned are on the board in Mr. Hess' room and in Mrs. Drake's room. The Motion and Speed/Velocity and Acceleration worksheet was collected for a weekly grade. Be sure you get it turned in! The test over Motion will be Wednesday, May 19th and you will turn in your unit notebooks on Tuesday, May 18th. Remember, this is your final major grade for science, make it a good one!

It is finally May and we are closing in on the last few weeks of school. But don't give up now, there is still plenty of work to keep everyone busy for the next 3 weeks. This is also last chance to keep your grades up or help get them up to where you want them to be.
Geography
We are working on a new map unit over Australia and Oceania. The map test is on block day of this week. Mr. Livingston will also be assigning a research paper/project. Additional instructions and information are to follow.
Science
We are still working on "Motion". Monday you will be working on a graphing activity. Be sure you are working on the book questions from Chapter 10: p. 323 #1-3; p. 324 #1-5; p. 328 #1-3; p. 330 #1-3; p. 336 #1-4; p. 338 #1-23. This is a huge assignment, I wouldn't procrastinate!

We are finished with Romeo & Juliet and now we are moving on to The Odyssey. This is a great, epic adventure. I have already attached the handouts in "The Odyssey" section off to the right. And don't forget your research papers are due Tuesday. No exceptions to the due date! Late papers will not be accepted.

Running a little behind in posting this week. Time is just getting away from me and this is a short week. We have a noon dismissal on Thursday and no school on Friday. I will get all handouts posted by the end of today, I promise!

We are finished with the "Waves" unit and now we are moving on to "Motion". This will be the last big unit for the school year. This is a great opportunity to help improve a struggling science grade or maintain that great science grade. Keep up with all the assignments, complete your labs, study for the tests, and turn in a completed unit packet and earn all those points!
English
We are finishing the unit on Romeo & Juliet this week. The Act V quiz is Tuesday and the final is Wednesday. The next book we are reading is The Odyssey. I actually remember reading this in high school. It is not an easy read, but it is a good story! Enjoy! Remember to keep working on your Research Papers. The rough draft needs to be completed and printed for peer editing on Thursday. The final draft will be due next Tuesday, May 4th!

Happy Monday. We have another full week. Remember I try and post all handouts in the appropriate section off to the right. If you can't find something you are looking for, check with Mrs. Drake and I will try and help you out. I know we are nearing the end of the school year, but we still have 6 weeks left. You can't quit working or those grades will suffer. This also means that you have 6 weeks to get any low grades up to where you want them to be.
Geography
We are finishing up with the material we started last week. The map test over Southeast Asia is on block day and the Chapter 27 test will be on Friday, April 23rd. Make sure you are prepared for both.
English
There is a quiz over Act III today. If you have your study guides completed and all of your handouts it should be a piece of cake. Make sure you come to class prepared, you can't go back to your lockers to get your study guide. We will have time on block day to work on your research papers. You should be close to finished with them. At this time, the scheduled due date for the research paper is yet to be determined. I will keep you updated and will post the due date as soon as it has been determined!
Science
We are winding down the unit on waves. Both the computer and written tests will be planned for the end of the week. Make sure you have all of your papers together and completed to turn in after you take the computer test on Friday. Friday will also be your final opportunity to turn in and present your "Wave Blocker" to Mr. Hess. This is an 100 point assignment that I wouldn't just ignore.

I think Spring is here! The weather was great this weekend. Time to enjoy the great outdoors-after your homework is done!! Here is what's going on this week for your team classes.
Geography
On Monday, Mr. Livingston handed out a Southeast Asia map. The test will be next week. I'll post the exact date when I know. The map is posted towards the bottom of the geography handout section. Tuesday he will hand out the Chapter 27 study guide. That test will be some time next week. It sounds like you are getting a break from geography tests this week.
English
We are moving on to Act III in Romeo and Juliet. Ms. Sear will hand out the Act III study guide and vocabulary on Monday. Remember your research paper will be due Friday, April 16th. You will get some time in class to work on those during block day. The "Mad Mercutio" worksheet you got on block day will be due Monday, April 19th.
Science
We are still studying waves in science. Make sure you are working on your wave blocker. You will present it on Block Day. This is a very important project that is worth one test grade. So if your a little worried about your current grade in science, what a great opportunity to help improve it. If you have questions, be sure to ask Mr. Hess. Also, remember that if you plan to work with a partner, you have to let Mr. Hess know by today!

We will continue working on both Romeo & Juliet and the research paper. There will be a quiz over Act II and Act II vocabulary on block day. Make sure you bring all your Act II handouts with you to class that day. We will also have time on block day to work on your research paper. No definite due date has been set yet. I will keep you posted!

We are continuing with the Waves unit. Make sure you are keeping up with all the assignments and you have everything together in your notebook. We are working on Chapter 25 this week. The test will be Thursday, April 1st. The study guide will be due then. Remember, there is a map test over Central and East Asia on Tuesday, March 30th.
Science
The pendulum lab we did in class last week in due Monday. If you missed the lab, Mr. Hess will have a make-up after school on Tuesday. If that does not work for you, you must make arrangements with Mr. Hess before Tuesday. There are several book questions that will be due Thursday, April 1st. The questions are as follows: p. 462 #1-4, 6; p. 468 #1, 3, 4; p. 471 #1-8; p. 478 #1-8; p. 480 #1-12, 14, 17; p. 481 #20, 22-27, 29. Everything that should be in your notebook for this unit so far is list on the board in Mr. Hess' room or in Mrs. Drake's room.

In English, we are still working on reading Romeo and Juliet as well as working on the Research Paper. We are writing a research paper on a career. The key components that must be included in the paper are: a Title Page, a minimum of 2 pages, 4 resources, and a Bibliography. The paper will probably be due some time next week. Geography
We are finishing up Chapter 24 this week over the cultural geography of South Asia. The test over chapter 24 is this Friday, March 26. There is a new map over Central and East Asia. The blank and completed maps are posted to the right in the geography handout section towards the bottom. The map test will be next Tuesday, March 30th.
English
We are continuing to read Romeo and Juliet. Instead of the typical daily brain teasers, Ms. Sear is giving writing activities based on Romeo and Juliet. I will post those each week under the brain teasers section off to the right. Remember to keep up with your study guides. Act I study guide is due on block day. There will also be a quiz over Act I on block day. We will begin working on a research paper this week. I will keep you posted for the due date for the paper.

Since we finished the Energy and the Earth Unit last week, we are started a new unit today. Next we will be studying Waves. Welcome Back!! Hope everyone enjoyed Winter Break. It was nice to see a few of you and your parents at conferences. Now it is time to start the last quarter of the school year. Try to keep up with all of your assignments and I will do my best to try to keep the blog updated so you know what is going on in all of your core classes.

Today we will be starting Chapter 24. The test will be next Friday. There will be a map test over South Asia this Friday the 19th. In the Geography Handout Section, I have posted both the blank version and the completed version of the map for you to use to prepare for the test.

On block day this week we will be finishing up the notes and reviewing for the test. The test over Energy and the Earth is also this Friday the 19th. If you missed it, the review is posted under the Science Handouts section to the right.

End of the quarter is tomorrow. That means ALL missing work will need to be turned in to your teachers by the end of the day on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I will be removing all of the handouts and materials from first quarter since they will no longer be accepted. If you are unsure if you are missing any work, check your student portal on Infinite Campus. Or if you think you turned something in that is marked as missing, check with your teachers.

Wow! Start of another new month and plenty of work to do. Hopefully the snow will stop soon and spring will be on its way. I saw a large group of robins this weekend so that is a good sign spring is coming!

We are now studying South Asia and starting with Chapter 23. The Chapter 23 test is this Friday, March 5th. Be sure your map over southwest Asia is complete too. The Southwest Asia map test is on block day this week.

Mr. Hess assigned some questions from the book that are due Tuesday, March 2nd. p. 789 #1-7; p. 800 #1-5, 7; p. 802 #3-8, 10, 13, 15; p. 756 # 3, 4, 6, 7; p. 762 #1-4, p. 764 #1-10, 14-17. Mr. Hess announced that we will be having the test over this unit before Winter Break next week. That means this unit we will due too. Keep up with all the the assignments. We are working on Chapter 19 this week. This chapter finishes up the unit over North Africa, Southwest and Central Asia. The test over Chapter 19 will be Friday, February 26th.

We are finishing the end of the Animal Farm unit. This week there will be a quiz over Chapters 6-10. We will also get to watch the DVD. You will have time this week to work on your final project and depending on how all of the groups are working, you will probably present your group projects the first part of next week.
Science
Since we just had the test over energy last Friday, this must mean we are starting a new unit in science today. The next unit is over Earth's Energy. You probably have figured it out by now, you need to keep up with all of the work and keep track of all of your papers if you want to be able to do well in science class.

I have attached the Chapter 18 study guide in the geography handout section to the right. This is a big chapter, therefore this is a big study guide. Don't procrastinate and wait until the last minute to work on your study guide. I would also recommend using the time offered in class wisely! Remember your "Our Land" projects are due Monday. The geography test will be Friday, February 19th.

We are nearing the end of Animal Farm. We should be able to finish reading the book this week. Ms. Sear will be assigning group and assigning a final project for Animal Farm. This project looks like a lot of fun-A Lot more fun than a big test! The vocabulary packet for Animal Farm is due Friday, February 19th and the study guide packet is due Monday, February 22nd. There will also be a quiz over chapters 6-10 on Monday the 22nd.

We have finished our unit on Russia and now we are moving on to North Africa, Southwest Asia, and Central Asia. Monday you will get the study guide for Chapter 17. The test will be this Friday the 5th. A copy of the chapter handouts are in the geography handout section on the right. Remember the map test over Northern Eurasia is Wednesday/Thursday during your block period.

The state writing assessments are Monday and Tuesday. Use what you know about the writing process and give your best effort! We will continue with Animal Farm on Wednesday.

We are still learning about energy this week. We are starting off the week with a lab. Remember to keep up with the work and keep all of your papers together to turn in at the end of the unit. If you are absent when we work on a lab you must make arrangements with Mr. Hess to make up the lab either before school, after school or during ELT. We are working on Chapter 16 this week and finishing up our unit on Russia. The test for Chapter 16 will be Friday, January 29. We are also starting a new map unit over Northern Eurasia. We are working on Chapter 15 this week. We are studying Russia in geography which coincides very well with our Animal Farm unit in English. The Chapter 15 geography test is this Friday the 22nd. And as always, the handouts are posted in the geography section to the right.

We have started to read Animal Farm. This will be a long unit. Everyone will be getting the study guide packet in class on the block day. This won't be due until the end of the unit, but be sure to keep up with it. Remember, per your syllabus, assignments are NOT excepted after the end of the unit. So keep up with your vocabulary packet and study guide! If you keep on top of it, it won't be difficult.

Welcome back!! I hope everyone stayed safe with all of the snow and enjoyed their break. I know I did! Remember, today is the start of a new semester, so follow your new schedule. If you misplaced it or don't remember, be sure to check with one of your teachers.

We are starting Chapter 13 this week. The test over this chapter will be Friday, January 8th. Be sure to complete the practice quiz posted under geography handouts. It will help you prepare and you can use it for the test. The students were also given a map of Eastern Europe. The map test will either be next Wednesday, January 13th or Thursday, January 14th on the block day that the students have class.

This week ee are reading Winter Thunder by Mari Sandoz. The vocabulary packet is due this Friday, January 8th and is posted in the Winder Thunder section off to the right. There is a modified version for Mrs. Drake's students. We will start reading Animal Farm by George Orwell next week.

We are starting a new unit this week. Now we are learning about the different geophysical cycles. This week we have been talking about the water cycle.
